Not needed yet: one namespace carries today's load. The code is built (e3491135); when it is needed, the steps above and the runbook in CONTRIBUTING.md (Operating g1t.sh) cover it.
[Launch] Create the git store namespaces and the fallback host #131
The code for sharding repositories across git store namespaces (#20) and for serving a namespace from the self-hosted git store (#25) is built (e3491135). What is left is the infrastructure:
- Make the extra Artifacts namespaces (for example
g1t-us-1, andg1t-euwith an EU jurisdiction; a namespace's jurisdiction is set when it is made). - Add them as bindings in
services/repos/wrangler.jsonc(GITSTORE_1,GITSTORE_EU, …) and name them inGITSTORE_NAMESPACES; setGITSTORE_NEW_REPOSandGITSTORE_EU_NAMESPACE. - Run
scripts/ops/gitstore-namespaces.mjsto see each namespace and queue any moves. - Stand up the fallback git store (
deploy/self-host/gitstore) on a persistent-disk host. - Rehearse the outage runbook once:
scripts/ops/restore-to-gitstore.mjs restore, the repos Worker'sGIT_FALLBACK_NAMESPACESsecret, thenreconcileand switch back.
Definition of done
- New repositories land in more than one namespace, an EU workspace's land in the EU namespace, and a fallback rehearsal has served a namespace read-only and switched back.
