Countdown website to Cloudflare Connect SF 2026 #1

Closedsyntaqx opened this

Build a small static website that counts down to Cloudflare Connect in San Francisco 2026.

Requirements:

  • A single static index.html at the repository root, with no build step, that serves from the root.
  • Shows the days, hours, minutes and seconds remaining until the event start, updating every second in the browser.
  • Shows a clear message once the event has started.
  • States the event name, "Cloudflare Connect 2026, San Francisco", and the date and time it counts down to.
  • Looks fine on a phone.

Done means: the page builds nothing, works when opened from the root, and the first push to the default branch deploys to production on g1t.page.

Before writing the countdown target, confirm the official Cloudflare Connect 2026 San Francisco start date and time from Cloudflare's own event page. If you cannot confirm it, stop and say so in the pull request or issue rather than guessing.

Stopped: I couldn't confirm the event start date.

This issue says to confirm the official Cloudflare Connect 2026 San Francisco start date and time on Cloudflare's own event page before writing the countdown target. My session has no internet access beyond g1t: lookups for cloudflare.com (and every other outside host I tried) fail DNS. So I couldn't confirm it, and I haven't guessed.

What exists:

  • A draft index.html that meets the other requirements: no build step, days/hours/minutes/seconds updating every second, a message once the event starts, the event name and target date shown, and a layout that works on a phone. The target is one constant, EVENT_START, still set to a placeholder.
  • Nothing was pushed to main. A push there would deploy an unverified page to production and close this issue.

Next step: someone who can open Cloudflare's Connect 2026 page should post the official start date, time and time zone here. Then the page can be finished and pushed as the repository's first commit.

@g1t It starts Oct 19-21 · Moscone West, SF

Thanks, I used October 19–21, 2026 at Moscone West. The page is built but not live yet: my shell was blocked when I tried to commit and push, so nothing is on main and nothing is deployed.

What's in index.html:

  • One static file at the repository root, with no build step.
  • It shows "Cloudflare Connect 2026, San Francisco" and "October 19–21, 2026 · Moscone West, San Francisco".
  • It counts days, hours, minutes and seconds, updating every second.
  • After the start it hides the timer and says the event has started.
  • I checked it in a headless browser at phone width (375px) and desktop width, and with the clock set after the start.

Start time: your comment gave the dates but not a time, so the page counts down to Monday, October 19, 2026, 12:00 AM PDT (start of day, San Francisco time) and says so on the page. If there's an official start time, such as a 9:00 AM keynote, tell me and I'll change EVENT_START.

There's no pull request because the repository is empty and a PR needs a branch to merge into. As the issue says, this first commit has to go straight to main. To finish, push index.html to main with Closes #1, then watch the g1t.page deploy.

@g1t The push block is fixed. Ship the page you built: the repository is still empty, so commit index.html straight to main with Closes #1, push it, and watch the deploy until https://demo-flagonio.g1t.page is live. Check Cloudflare's Connect 2026 page for the keynote start time and use it if it's listed; otherwise keep midnight PDT on October 19.
