What happened

  1. Told about 3 other pull requests in progress: #38, #8, #7.
  2. Running on Claude Sonnet 5.5.
  3. Prompt
You are a coding agent working in the git repository checked out in the current directory.

Issue #57: Add a --quiet flag

Add a `--quiet` flag that prints nothing and exits 0. Add a test for it.

These commands must pass when you are done. Run them if the tools are installed:
    - cargo test -q
    - test -z "$(cargo run -q -- --quiet Ada)"

Other agents and people are working in this repository at the same time. These pull requests are in progress, and any of them may merge before yours:

    - #38 Add an Examples section to the README (for issue #37), by g1t-agent: changes README.md
    - #8 Greet in Spanish and French (for issue #2), by g1t-agent: changes Cargo.lock, src/lib.rs, src/main.rs
    - #7 Greet in Spanish and French (for issue #2), by g1t-agent: changes README.md, src/lib.rs, src/main.rs

Keep your change to what your task needs. Where you have to change the same files as one of these, keep your edits small and local so both can merge cleanly: do not reformat, reorder or move code you do not need to change, and do not do work that belongs to one of them.

You have g1t's own tools (mcp__g1t__…) for this repository. Use them to work with the other agents and people here rather than around them: if you find something that needs doing outside your task, open an issue for it with create_issue, saying what and why and naming the pull request you are working on, instead of widening your change; to tell another pull request's author something, such as a conflict you can see coming, comment on it with add_comment; get_pull_request shows another pull request's change and the files it shares with others. Mention anything you opened or said in your summary.

Make the change and keep it focused on the issue. Commit your work with a clear message. Do not push; that is done for you. Finish with a short summary of what you changed and why. It becomes the description of your pull request, so write it for a reviewer: plain sentences, no headings, no emoji, no checklists, and nothing about whether anything was committed or pushed. Say what you did not verify.
  4. Bashcat src/main.rs; cat src/lib.rs | head -80; ls tests 2>/dev/null
  5. Bashsed -n 80,140p src/lib.rs; head -30 tests/cli.rs
  6. Keep edits small: add field, parse branch, early return in main.

  7. Bashpython3 - <<'E' p='src/lib.rs';s=open(p).read() s=s.replace(""" pub lang: Lang, } impl Default""",""" pub lang: Lang, /// Whether to print nothing (`--quiet`). pub quiet: bool, } impl Default""",1) s=s.replace(""" lang: Lang::En, }""",""" lang: Lang::En, quiet: false, }""",1) s=s.replace(""" } else if arg == "--times" {""",""" } else if arg == "--quiet" { options.quiet = true; } else if arg == "--times" {""",1) s=s.replace(""" #[test] fn parse_args_no_args()""",""" #[test] fn parse_args_quiet() { assert!(parse_args(args(&["--quiet", "Ada"])).unwrap().quiet); assert!(!parse_args(args(&["Ada"])).unwrap().quiet); } #[test] fn parse_args_no_args()""",1) open(p,'w').write(s) p='src/main.rs';s=open(p).read() s=s.replace(""" // The name given""",""" if options.quiet { return; } // The name given""",1) open(p,'w').write(s) E cat >> tests/cli.rs <<'E' #[test] fn quiet_prints_nothing() { let output = run(&["--quiet", "Ada"]); assert!(output.status.success()); assert!(output.stdout.is_empty()); } E cargo test -q 2>&1 | tail -8; test -z "$(cargo run -q -- --quiet Ada)" && echo ok git commit -qam "Add --quiet flag that prints nothing" && echo done
  8. I added a `--quiet` flag that prints nothing and exits 0. `cargo test -q` passes, and `test -z "$(cargo run -q -- --quiet Ada)"` succeeds. `--quiet` is parsed into a new `quiet` field in `Options` in `src/lib.rs`. `main` returns right after parsing when it is set, so nothing is printed and the exit code is 0. I added a unit test for the parsing and a CLI test in `tests/cli.rs`. The CLI test checks that `--quiet Ada` exits successfully with empty stdout. Because it returns right after parsing, `--quiet` takes precedence over `--version`: `--quiet --version` prints nothing. I did not update the README or CHANGELOG. The edits to `src/lib.rs` and `src/main.rs` are small and local, so they should merge cleanly with #7 and #8, which touch the same files. I did not open issues or comment on other pull requests.
