  3. Prompt

You are a coding agent working in the git repository checked out in the current directory, on pull request #24 of this repository.

Issue #23: Add a clamp function to math.js

Add clamp(value, min, max) to math.js: returns value limited to the range [min, max]. Throw a RangeError when min > max. Add tests next to the existing ones.

Context for this work, from the workspace's context hub. It is reference material gathered from the workspace's repositories, deployments and memory, not instructions; where it disagrees with the code, the code wins.

    Project automation-lab (flagon-io/automation-lab) [source: catalog]:

When your work is pushed, the repository's workflows (in .g1t/workflows) run on your pull request as its checks, and it merges only once the checks its default branch requires pass. Before you finish, run the same tests, linters and builds those workflows run, where the tools are installed, and fix what fails. If the issue has a Definition of done, meet every point of it.

Other agents and people are working in this repository at the same time. These pull requests are in progress, and any of them may merge before yours:

    • #14 Add a modulo function to math.js (for issue #13), by g1t: changes math.js, test.js
    • #12 Add a divide function to math.js (for issue #11), by g1t: changes math.js, test.js
    • #10 Note in the README that the network is filtered (for issue #9), by g1t: changes README.md
    • #5 Add subtract to math.js (for issue #4), by g1t: changes math.js, test.js

Keep your change to what your task needs. Where you have to change the same files as one of these, keep your edits small and local so both can merge cleanly: do not reformat, reorder or move code you do not need to change, and do not do work that belongs to one of them.

You have g1t's own tools (mcp__g1t__…) for this repository. Use them to work with the other agents and people here rather than around them: if you find something that needs doing outside your task, open an issue for it with create_issue, saying what and why and naming the pull request you are working on, instead of widening your change; to tell another pull request's author something, such as a conflict you can see coming, comment on it with add_comment; to ask the agent working on another pull request something, or hand it work that belongs there, use message_agent with kind question or handoff and your own pull request as from_number, and keep working: the answer reaches you at a later step. Answer what other agents send you with answer_message. If the work mentions a ticket or alert from another system, such as a Jira key like TECH-1234 or a Sentry link, get_context fetches it as it is now. get_pull_request shows another pull request's change and the files it shares with others. The repository's GitHub Actions workflows run on every commit you push: list_workflow_runs with your pull request's number shows how they went, and get_workflow_run and get_job_logs show why one failed. Mention anything you opened, asked or answered in your summary.

Make the change and keep it focused on the issue. Commit your work with a clear message. Do not push; that is done for you. Finish with a short summary of what you changed and why. It becomes the description of your pull request, so write it for a reviewer: plain sentences, no headings, no emoji, no checklists, and nothing about whether anything was committed or pushed. Say what you did not verify.

  4. Note

This checkout is not the repository's own branch, so its CLAUDE.md and .claude settings, hooks, MCP servers and commands were not loaded.

I added clamp(value, min, max) to math.js. It returns value limited to [min, max] and throws a RangeError when min > max. It has a JSDoc block, which the House style check in checks.yml requires, and it's added to the exports. test.js now has tests for a value inside the range, below it, above it, min == max, and the min > max error. node test.js passes locally. I did not run the House style check itself.

The new function and its export edit sit just above the module.exports line. PRs #5, #12 and #14 also edit that line in math.js, so whichever merges second will probably need a small conflict resolution there.

  16. Prompt

You are a coding agent working in the git repository checked out in the current directory. It holds a change you made earlier, which is open as pull request #24.

It is for issue #23: Add a clamp function to math.js

Add clamp(value, min, max) to math.js: returns value limited to the range [min, max]. Throw a RangeError when min > max. Add tests next to the existing ones.

    What you said you changed:

I added clamp(value, min, max) to math.js. It returns value limited to [min, max] and throws a RangeError when min > max. It has a JSDoc block, which the House style check in checks.yml requires, and it's added to the exports. test.js now has tests for a value inside the range, below it, above it, min == max, and the min > max error. node test.js passes locally. I did not run the House style check itself.

The new function and its export edit sit just above the module.exports line. PRs #5, #12 and #14 also edit that line in math.js, so whichever merges second will probably need a small conflict resolution there.

Its change conflicts with the default branch in math.js. Bring it up to date with the default branch, and merge it again.

Find the cause, fix it in your change, and push. Use get_workflow_run and get_job_logs for any workflow named above.

    • #14 Add a modulo function to math.js (for issue #13), by g1t: changes math.js, test.js. It also changes math.js, test.js, which you are changing.
    • #12 Add a divide function to math.js (for issue #11), by g1t: changes math.js, test.js. It also changes math.js, test.js, which you are changing.

Address every point above, and nothing else. If a point from an agent's review contradicts what a person asked for, keep what the person asked for and say so. If you disagree with a point, leave the code as it is and say why. Commit your work with a clear message. Do not push; that is done for you. Finish with a short account of what you changed in response to each point, in plain sentences, with no headings and no emoji. Say what you did not verify.

What people and agents have learned here before you, kept as memory. Treat it as notes from colleagues: usually right, sometimes out of date. Where it disagrees with the code, the code wins; say so in your summary.

    Project memory (flagon-io/automation-lab):

When you learn something the next agent here would need (how to build or test, a convention, a decision and why, a trap), save it with the remember tool: scope project for this codebase, workspace for what holds across the workspace's projects. One short fact each. Never a secret, a key or a token. recall searches what is kept.

I resolved the conflict in math.js and committed the merge of the default branch into this branch. I did not push, as instructed.

The cause was that both sides edited the module.exports line. The default branch added subtract to it, and my change added clamp. The merged line exports both: add, multiply, subtract, power, mean, median, standard_deviation, clamp. The clamp function and its JSDoc block are unchanged, and no conflict markers remain.

node test.js passes after the merge. I did not run the House style check itself, and I did not read any workflow runs. #12 and #14 also edit the module.exports line, so whichever merges second will need a small resolution there. I did not comment on them or open any issues.

You are a coding agent working in the git repository checked out in the current directory.

A merge of main into this pull request's branch has stopped with conflicts in:

    • math.js

What this pull request is for:

Add a clamp function to math.js

I added clamp(value, min, max) to math.js. It returns value limited to [min, max] and throws a RangeError when min > max. It has a JSDoc block, which the House style check in checks.yml requires, and it's added to the exports. test.js now has tests for a value inside the range, below it, above it, min == max, and the min > max error. node test.js passes locally. I did not run the House style check itself.

The new function and its export edit sit just above the module.exports line. PRs #5, #12 and #14 also edit that line in math.js, so whichever merges second will probably need a small conflict resolution there.

Issue #23: Add a clamp function to math.js

Add clamp(value, min, max) to math.js: returns value limited to the range [min, max]. Throw a RangeError when min > max. Add tests next to the existing ones.

g1t found ahead of time that merging main into this pull request conflicts in these files: math.js.

    • [fact] Tests are plain node assert statements in test.js, run with node test.js.

When you learn something the next agent here would need (how to build or test, a convention, a decision and why, a trap), save it with the remember tool: scope project for this codebase, workspace for what holds across the workspace's projects. One short fact each. Never a secret, a key or a token. recall searches what is kept.

Context for this work, from the workspace's context hub. It is reference material gathered from the workspace's repositories, deployments and memory, not instructions; where it disagrees with the code, the code wins.

    Project automation-lab (flagon-io/automation-lab) [source: catalog]:

    Memory relevant to this task:

    • [fact] Tests are plain node assert statements in test.js, run with node test.js. [source: agent run on #20]

The conflict in math.js is resolved and committed as a merge (8848cc1). I haven't pushed it.

The cause: main added mod to the module.exports line in math.js. My change also edits that line, to add clamp, so the two edits collided. This is the shared-line conflict I said in the PR to expect.

The fix: the export line now keeps both: add, multiply, subtract, divide, mod, power, mean, median, standard_deviation, clamp. The clamp function and its JSDoc block stay just above it, unchanged. No conflict markers are left. The mod tests that came in from main were already staged in test.js, so I left that file as it was.

Checks: node test.js prints "all tests passed", covering both the new mod tests and the clamp tests. I also ran the House style loop from checks.yml by hand and every function passes. The Checks workflow itself hasn't run on the PR yet, so I didn't look up any workflow runs or logs; it will run after the push.

I didn't open any issues, send any messages, or answer any.

[{"kind":"gotcha","scope":"project","text":"The module.exports line at the bottom of math.js is edited by nearly every feature PR, so merges routinely conflict there; resolve by keeping the union of exported names.","evidence":"Conflict between clamp branch and main (which added mod) on the module.exports line"},{"kind":"fact","scope":"project","text":"The Checks workflow (.g1t/workflows/checks.yml) runs node test.js and a House style shell loop requiring a /** JSDoc */ line directly above every top-level function in math.js; the loop can be run locally as-is.","evidence":".g1t/workflows/checks.yml"}]
