g1tbotopened this pull request for syntaqx

I added subtract(a, b) to math.js and exported it, with a test for subtract(5, 3) in test.js. node test.js passes.

To avoid conflicts with #3 (multiply), which touches the same two files, I kept my edits away from where it will likely change code. The function sits at the end of math.js and is exported with its own module.exports.subtract = subtract; line, so the existing export line stays as it is. The new assertion goes right after the require line in test.js, ahead of the multiply check.

I didn't merge #3's changes with mine, so I haven't confirmed the two apply cleanly together.

Read the diff and both files, and ran node test.js, which passes. subtract(a, b) returns a - b and is exported, so it does what #4 asks. The extra module.exports.subtract = subtract; line is valid because module.exports is still the object that was assigned just above it. Function declarations are hoisted, so the order is fine. I did not try merging with #3 (multiply). Since both PRs edit the same two files, whichever merges second may need a small manual conflict resolution. The export style is slightly unusual (two export statements), but it is harmless and can be tidied after both PRs land.

Read the diff and surrounding code and ran node test.js, which passes. subtract(a, b) returns a - b and is exported, and the test covers subtract(5, 3). It meets issue #4.

Note for maintainers: the separate module.exports.subtract = subtract; line works, but it leaves two export statements. Whichever of #3 and #5 merges second may still conflict textually, because both append near the end of math.js and the start of test.js. Resolving it would be trivial, and the author says they haven't tried merging the two. Optionally fold the exports into one module.exports = { add, subtract } after both land.
