Upgrade uuid to 11.1.1: needs code changes #35
Approved by g1t
Note
Told about 2 other pull requests in progress: #33, #29.
Note
Used the standard model (Claude Sonnet 5.5): making a change.
Prompt
You are a coding agent working in the git repository checked out in the current directory, on pull request #35 of this repository.
Issue #34: Upgrade uuid to 11.1.1: needs code changes
uuid(npm) has known vulnerabilities with a fix in 11.1.1, and raising its version alone does not pass this project's checks. Upgrade it to 11.1.1 or later everywhere it is locked, and change the code that depends on it, keeping other changes to what the upgrade needs.Advisory Severity Affected Fixed in Summary GHSA-w5hq-g745-h8pq medium 7.0.3 11.1.1 uuid: Missing buffer bounds check in v3/v5/v6 when buf is provided Locked in: .
If the fix needs a major upgrade that breaks the build, change the code that depends on it in the same pull request.
Definition of done
- No lockfile resolves a vulnerable version, and the tests still pass.
Opened by g1t's security updates. Turn them off for this project on its Security page.
What people and agents have learned here before you, kept as memory. Treat it as notes from colleagues: usually right, sometimes out of date. Where it disagrees with the code, the code wins; say so in your summary.
Project memory (flagon-io/g1t):
- [fact] g1t is a Cargo workspace (apps/api, crates/*, services/actions, services/billing, services/events, services/identity, services/integrations, services/packages, services/webhooks, services/repos, services/search, services/security, services/work);
cargo testruns its tests. - [fact] g1t is a Cargo workspace (apps/api, crates/*, services/actions, services/billing, services/events, services/identity, services/integrations, services/webhooks, services/repos, services/search, services/security, services/work);

- [fact] In g1t,
npm run typecheckruns the typecheck:npm run typecheck --workspaces --if-present. - [convention] g1t uses npm (its lockfile is committed): install with

When you learn something the next agent here would need (how to build or test, a convention, a decision and why, a trap), save it with the remember tool: scope project for this codebase, workspace for what holds across the workspace's projects. One short fact each. Never a secret, a key or a token. recall searches what is kept.
Context for this work, from the workspace's context hub. It is reference material gathered from the workspace's repositories, deployments and memory, not instructions; where it disagrees with the code, the code wins.

When your work is pushed, the repository's workflows (in .g1t/workflows) run on your pull request as its checks, and it merges only once the checks its default branch requires pass. Before you finish, run the same tests, linters and builds those workflows run, where the tools are installed, and fix what fails. If the issue has a Definition of done, meet every point of it.
Other agents and people are working in this repository at the same time. These pull requests are in progress, and any of them may merge before yours:
- #33 Upgrade decode-uri-component to 0.5.0: needs code changes (for issue #32), by g1t: nothing pushed yet
- #29 Upgrade katex to 0.18.2: needs code changes (for issue #28), by g1t: changes package-lock.json, package.json, scripts/ops/backup-restore-drill.test.mjs, scripts/ops/restore-to-gitstore.test.mjs
Keep your change to what your task needs. Where you have to change the same files as one of these, keep your edits small and local so both can merge cleanly: do not reformat, reorder or move code you do not need to change, and do not do work that belongs to one of them.
You have g1t's own tools (mcp__g1t__…) for this repository. Use them to work with the other agents and people here rather than around them: if you find something that needs doing outside your task, open an issue for it with create_issue, saying what and why and naming the pull request you are working on, instead of widening your change; to tell another pull request's author something, such as a conflict you can see coming, comment on it with add_comment; to ask the agent working on another pull request something, or hand it work that belongs there, use message_agent with kind question or handoff and your own pull request as from_number, and keep working: the answer reaches you at a later step. Answer what other agents send you with answer_message. If the work mentions a ticket or alert from another system, such as a Jira key like TECH-1234 or a Sentry link, get_context fetches it as it is now. get_pull_request shows another pull request's change and the files it shares with others. The repository's GitHub Actions workflows run on every commit you push: list_workflow_runs with your pull request's number shows how they went, and get_workflow_run and get_job_logs show why one failed. Mention anything you opened, asked or answered in your summary.
Make the change and keep it focused on the issue. Commit your work with a clear message. Do not push; that is done for you. Finish with a short summary of what you changed and why. It becomes the description of your pull request, so write it for a reviewer: plain sentences, no headings, no emoji, no checklists, and nothing about whether anything was committed or pushed. Say what you did not verify.
Note
This checkout is not the repository's own branch, so its CLAUDE.md and .claude settings, hooks, MCP servers and commands were not loaded.

Prompt
You are a coding agent working in the git repository checked out in the current directory. It holds a change you made earlier, which is open as pull request #35.
It is for issue #34: Upgrade uuid to 11.1.1: needs code changes
uuid(npm) has known vulnerabilities with a fix in 11.1.1, and raising its version alone does not pass this project's checks.
Turn them off for this project on its Security page.

get_workflow_runtool (repoflagon-io/g1tand the run's id), thenget_job_logsfor the job that failed. Fix the cause in the code, not the workflow, unless the workflow itself is wrong. Push, and the checks run again.When your work is pushed, the repository's workflows (in .g1t/workflows) run on your pull request as its checks, and it merges only once the checks its default branch requires pass. Before you finish, run the same tests, linters and builds those workflows run, where the tools are installed, and fix what fails. If the issue has a Definition of done, meet every point of it.
Other agents and people are working in this repository at the same time. These pull requests are in progress, and any of them may merge before yours:
- #33 Upgrade decode-uri-component to 0.5.0: needs code changes (for issue #32), by g1t: changes package-lock.json, package.json. It also changes package-lock.json, package.json, which you are changing.
- #29 Upgrade katex to 0.18.2: needs code changes (for issue #28), by g1t: changes package-lock.json, package.json, scripts/ops/backup-restore-drill.test.mjs, scripts/ops/restore-to-gitstore.test.mjs. It also changes package-lock.json, package.json, which you are changing.
Address every point above, and nothing else. If a point from an agent's review contradicts what a person asked for, keep what the person asked for and say so. If you disagree with a point, leave the code as it is and say why. Commit your work with a clear message. Do not push; that is done for you. Finish with a short account of what you changed in response to each point, in plain sentences, with no headings and no emoji. Say what you did not verify.
What people and agents have learned here before you, kept as memory. Treat it as notes from colleagues: usually right, sometimes out of date. Where it disagrees with the code, the code wins; say so in your summary.
Project memory (flagon-io/g1t):
- [fact] g1t is a Cargo workspace (apps/api, crates/*, services/actions, services/billing, services/events, services/identity, services/integrations, services/packages, services/webhooks, services/repos, services/search, services/security, services/work);

cargo testruns its tests. - [fact] g1t is a monorepo; its packages are in apps/, services/, packages/*.
- [fact] In g1t,
npm run typecheckruns the typecheck:npm run typecheck --workspaces --if-present. - [convention] g1t uses npm (its lockfile is committed): install with
npm install, not pnpm or yarn or bun. - [fact] g1t is a Cargo workspace (apps/api, crates/*, services/actions, services/billing, services/events, services/identity, services/integrations, services/webhooks, services/repos, services/security, services/work);

When you learn something the next agent here would need (how to build or test, a convention, a decision and why, a trap), save it with the remember tool: scope project for this codebase, workspace for what holds across the workspace's projects. One short fact each. Never a secret, a key or a token. recall searches what is kept.

I made no code changes this round. The only failing check was the TypeScript job, and it failed on the CI runner, not on the code. Its Install step (
npm ci) ended with "The runner stopped answering." The later steps (type checks and tests) were skipped. The Rust, Build and Desktop jobs passed on the same commit, and they include an install of the same lockfile.I checked the lockfile locally.
npm ci --dry-runfinishes with no errors.package-lock.jsonhas nouuid7.0.3 left, andnode_modules/xcode/node_modules/uuidis 11.1.1. Thexcodeoverride inpackage.jsonis still in place. Thexcodeentry in the lockfile still listsuuidas^7.0.3. npm leaves that asxcodedeclared it, because the override applies when it installs.The fix is to re-run CI, since I have nothing to push. I did not run the TypeScript job's type checks or tests locally, and I did not run
xcodewithuuid11. Compatibility there still comes from reading, not from a run.[{"kind":"gotcha","scope":"project","text":"A CI job whose Install step ends with 'The runner stopped answering' is a runner failure, not a lockfile or code problem; re-run it.","evidence":"Run run_01m4md5vw4eynrhak5jhfvfwn5: TypeScript job reason 'The runner stopped answering.' while Build, which runs the same install, passed."}] {"confidence":"medium","uncertain_about":["TypeScript CI job never ran its type checks or tests","xcode behaviour with uuid 11 not run","real npm install not run, only a dry run"]}

What you said you changed:
The vulnerable
uuid7.0.3 is now 11.1.1 inpackage-lock.json. That copy was only pulled in byxcode@3.0.1(through the Expo config plugins inapps/mobile), which pinsuuid@^7.0.3. The other copy,uuid14.0.2 (used by mermaid), was already past the fix.I added an npm override in
package.jsonso thatxcodetakesuuid^11.1.1. No source code importsuuiddirectly, so no code changes were needed. 11.x still supports the CommonJSrequirethatxcodeuses.npm would not re-resolve the lockfile on its own, so I wrote the nested
node_modules/xcode/node_modules/uuidentry by hand. The version, resolved URL and integrity hash come fromnpm view uuid@11.1.1.npm ci --dry-runreported no errors against the result.I did not run the project's tests or a real install of the new lockfile. I also did not run
xcodeitself, so the 11.x compatibility is from reading, not from a run.These checks failed on your latest commit to flagon-io/g1t. They are the repository's workflows, run on your pull request:

get_workflow_runtool (repoflagon-io/g1tand the run's id), thenget_job_logsfor the job that failed.
The failing CI check had nothing to do with the uuid upgrade, and I've committed a fix for it. The ops tests run
git tag -a, and on the CI runner no git user is set, so it failed with "Committer identity unknown". Annotated tags need an identity even though the tests' commit helper already supplies one for commits.I changed one line in each of
scripts/ops/backup-restore-drill.test.mjsandscripts/ops/restore-to-gitstore.test.mjs, giving the tag command the same throwaway identity (user.name=t,user.email=t@example.com) the commit helper uses. Pull request #29 (katex) makes exactly the same edit to both lines. I matched it byte for byte instead of doing something different, so the two pull requests merge cleanly whichever goes first. I commented on #29 to say so.What I ran here, all passing:
- Ops tests:
npm run test:opswith no git identity set at all, which is how the runner is: 41 of 41 pass. - Install:
npm cion the lockfile now works for real, which last time I had only dry-run. It puts uuid 11.1.1 atnode_modules/xcode/node_modules/uuid. - xcode with the new uuid: I loaded
xcodeand called itsgenerateUuidon a minimal stand-in project, not a real Xcode project, and it worked. Soxcodeworks with uuid 11 in a run, not just from reading its code. - Typecheck and workspace tests:
npm run typecheckandnpm test --workspaces --if-presentboth pass.
I did not run
cargo test, the desktop job, the deploy build,npm run test:deploy, or the manifest check.[{"kind":"gotcha","scope":"project","text":"CI runners have no git user configured, so tests that run git commit or git tag -a must pass -c user.name/-c user.email themselves; scripts/ops tests do this.","evidence":"CI log: 'Committer identity unknown' from git tag -a in scripts/ops/restore-to-gitstore.test.mjs"},{"kind":"fact","scope":"project","text":"CI's TypeScript job runs npm ci, npm run typecheck, npm test --workspaces --if-present, npm run test:deploy, npm run test:ops, and node scripts/deploy.mjs manifest --check.","evidence":".g1t/workflows/ci.yml"}]
